Potsdam Fire Runs Multiple Calls

At 9:23am, Potsdam Fire was dispatched to a strong odor of gas in the vicinity of 27 Cherry St. E-48 responded.The odor was investigated and Liberty Utilities was contacted. Potsdam Fire was back in service at 9:50am. At 10:25am, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and Car 10 were dispatched to a 1 car motor vehicle accident, with airbag deployment and minor injuries. E-80 and R-14 responded along with 36-1 and 36-4. Potsdam Rescue handled patient care though no patient was transported. Potsdam Fire was back in service at 11:05am. At 2:01pm, Potsdam Fire was self dispatched to a pump detail at 125 Market St. E-48, R-30, and 36-1 responded. Upon arrival, water was seen flowing out of the basement windows. 2 portable gas pumps were deployed and the water was flowed from the basement to the nearby storm drain. We want to thank the Village of Potsdam DPW and National Grid for a quick response and for their assistance on scene. Potsdam Fire was back in service at 3:50pm. While enroute to the station, clearing the pump detail, R-30 was requested to assist Potsdam PD and Potsdam Rescue with entry to 1 Market St. for a welfare check and lifting assist for a resident. Potsdam Fire was back in at 4:20pm.
